Food Phobia
food phobia is classified into two: first is the inability to swallow food for fear that a person may choke or may not be able to digest the food if ingested; second is aversion to food, where a sufferer feels nausea and vomiting to specific types, smells and textures of food. When a person has a food phobia, it does not automatically mean that he is afraid to get fat or has other eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia. Phobia, in general, is fear of any specific thing. Food phobia is the fear of eating and swallowing. Someone’s food phobia may be worse than others, depending on several different factors. Like any other phobia, food phobia may stem from past traumatic experiences with food.
